The Glasgow Daily Record & Sunday Mail has reported that the secret diaries of
the Beatles gay manager, Brian Epstein have surfaced after 30 years. Describing Epstein
as “the ultimate star-maker--the man who transformed the Beatles from
leather-clad wannabes to the greatest rock band of all time,” the newspaper says
his diaries reveal him as “a manic depressive” who worried too much.
He died aged 32, in August, 1967 When his drug overdoses had become regular episodes, Paul McCartney was concerned, say the diaries, that Epstein was taking life too seriously and had explained to him that worrying itself is “pointless.”
Christies pop music specialist said of Epstein: “Reading these secret diaries and notes of the man who changed the 1960s brought a tear to my eye.” |
