How Celebrity Leaders Might Help

I sure would like to see a press conference called by some nationally known leaders calling on Americans to chill out on the anti-gay hysteria which is gripping the country. Actually a series of such press conferences would be nice.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a panel made up of Jesse Jackson, Oprah, Bill Cosby and (if he is really serious about being sorry for his anti-gay remarks years ago) Eddie Murphy? They could point out that gay people are not the first group in America which has had to fight for the right to get married, not the first group in America which had to fight for the right not to have their children stolen from their arms. Not the first group in America that organized religion lobbied against granting civil rights. jjackson.jpg - 6.06 K The Rev. Jesse Jackson

If you are not sure where I am coming from here, watch the excellent PBS series The Negro In America.

We need some leaders in America to stand up for us. If they are all cowed by the relious right, then we are in deep, deep trouble.

Well, Isn't This Special ??

What lies Satan has prompted you to write! All I can say is that in the end, you will realize how wrong you really are and it will be too late to repent. What good can your "agenda" do for society? I just can't figure out where people like you are going. Actually, unfortunately, I do know. Please repent and come to terms with who Christ really is. Bashing a man who has been as Godly as James Dobson is a very dangerous thing.

Sincerely,
V. Justice

Fwd: Conservative Sullivan Praises the D'Amato Endorsement

damatorainbow.gif - 11.93 K Sen. Al D'Amato HRC's endorsement of Senator Al D'Amato is, in my view, a brave, pioneering and shrewd decision. In the coming years, the gay movement must be bipartisan or it will be marginalized and ignored. Reaching out to leaders in the Republican party who have supported gay and lesbian equality is vital if we want to occupy the critical center ground of American politics. And Al D'Amato will be an important ally in that struggle - in Washington and in the country at large.
