The Diary of Anne Frankenstein Extended

Theatre A Lâ??Orange has announced the extension of its World Premiere production of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANKENSTEIN, an absurdist re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic by Ilya Sapiroe. Directed by Elizabeth Elkins, performances have been added through November 29th at 13th Street Rep.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANKENSTEIN follows Anne, a lowly hermaphroditic Franken-girl (and her companion diary), as she comes of age in the attic of an abandoned genetics laboratory in Bavaria in 1945. After years of peaceful anonymity, Anneâ??s privacy comes to an end when her cruel and twisted creator, Dr. Gustav Frankenstein, returns to the defunct compound with an eye toward his most fiendish experiment yet â?? the resurrection of Adolf Hitler!

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANKENSTEIN stars 3-time Glammy and HX Drag Queen of the Year nominee Mimi Imfurst (as Anne), and the legendary Bloolips drag performer Lavinia Co-Op (as the Diary), with Joseph Beuerlein, Geoffery Borman, Jessica Caplan, Ryan Feyk and Eric Jaeger. The productions features music by Kevin Cummines, set & props by Chesley Allen, lighting by Nick Lazzaro, sound by Eben Lillie, stage management by Amy Reynolds and costumes by Mel Kier.

Ilya Sapiroe is a writer, performer, producer, inventor, and theatre critic. Born in Azerbaijan and raised in Brooklyn, he has since called New Orleans, Berlin and Florence his home before settling back in NYC for the fourth time in 2006. This is his first play to be produced in New York. He is Jewish.

As a director/writer/performer, Elizabeth Elkinsâ?? work has been seen across the US and abroad in venues as diverse as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, PS1, the Aerial Angels Circus, Art Against Fear, and the International Toy Theatre Festival.
