Gay Marriage Now Legal In the United States

Gay Marriage Legal In United StatesA historic day for gay rights and the institution of marriage, the Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry.

In his 100 page opinion Justice Kennedy comes thru for Gay Marriage in the United States.

The 5-4 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges declares that the 14th Amendment requires that all states perform same-sex marriages and recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states.

Hillary Clinton tweeted, “Proud to celebrate a historic victory for marriage equality—& the courage & determination of LGBT Americans who made it possible”.

The ruling extends marriage rights to gay couples in the remaining 14 states where same-sex marriage was prohibited. It also validates the lower-court rulings in 20 states where marriage bans were struck down by federal judges.
