Rainbow flag launched into upper atmosphere to declare space LGBTI-friendly

Pride goes up, up and away into space

A rainbow flag has been launched into the upper atmosphere to declare space LGBTI-friendly.

It’s the work of Planting Peace, the same group who created a rainbow house opposite the God Hates Fags group Westboro Baptist Church.

Attaching a flag to a high-altitude balloon, it was sent up on 17 August to record the journey.

The flag ultimately reached 21.1 miles (34km) above the planet before it fell to Earth.

‘I’m just pumped space is gay now,’ Planting Peace’s Aaron Jackson told NewNowNext.

‘I would love for LGBTQ children who are struggling to see this, and look up to the stars and remember that the universe shines brightly for them, and they are not alone.’
