McDonalds produce rainbow fries boxes for Pride… and this evangelist is furious

Joshua Feuerstein, the Christian evangelist that led a boycott of Starbucks when it dropped Christmas-associated imagery from its festive red cups a couple of years ago, is on another mission.

This time he has McDonalds in his sights after the fast food restaurant chain announced it was producing rainbow packing for its fries.

The LGBTI-themed packaging will be available at just three outlets in Washington DC over this coming weekend (9-11 June) to tie in with Capital Pride.

McDonalds is sponsoring the event, and will also have a float in the parade on 10 June.

‘The rainbow fry boxes are a fun way to show our support of the LGBTQ community using one of McDonald’s most iconic and recognizable items,’said Cathy Martin, co-chair of the McDonald’s PRIDE Network and vice president/general manager of McDonald’s Baltimore Washington Region.

‘However, these fry boxes are ‘small potatoes’ in the grand scheme of our commitment to this community,’

‘We are proud to honor and celebrate the LGBTQ community, including our employees, customers and beyond, each and every day.’

‘Disgusting!’

However, one person unimpressed by the move is Feuerstein, who called on his 2million Facebook followers to boycott the brand.

‘Disgusting!’ he ranted on Facebook.

‘Im tired of corporations trying to influence our families like this. SHARE THIS and let people know to STOP EATING at McDonalds! Plus, their food is crap. Really.’

Many of the 20,000 comments his post prompted were critical of his stance. One Facebook user, Benjamin Daniel Pedley, shot back by throwing shade on Feuerstein’s own eating habits.

Some fellow Christians also questioned his priorities.
