Gay people don’t exist, Los Angeles pastor in desperate need of a night out tells gay man

We try to reserve our “crazy pastor posts” for the most crazy of the crazy, but this one seemed to be worth sharing.

Christian extremist John MacArthur is the pastor at the Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, a 3,500-seat megachurch popular with the evangelical crowd.

At a speaking engagement earlier this week, a gay Christian man asked 78-year-old MacArthur whether he would still get into Heaven given his sexual orientation.

MacArthur replied by telling the guy to stop being silly. He wasn’t really gay. Such a thing is impossible. Gay people don’t actually exist!

“No one is gay,” MacArthur said. “If you mean by that, that that’s some hardwiring, no one is gay.”

The pastor elaborated: “People commit adultery, they commit sins of homosexuality, they lie, they steal, they cheat. It’s like saying, ‘I keep robbing banks, but I’m a robber. I’m a bank robber. What am I gonna do? I’m a bank robber.’ That is not an excuse for what you do.”

God, MacArthur said, doesn’t “hardwire anybody in such a way that they are not responsible for certain behaviors.” Because, remember, God makes no mistakes.
