Cheryl Blossom is officially Riverdale’s latest bisexual resident

The small town of Riverdale just got a whole lot queerer. Resident vixen Cheryl Blossom is officially bisexual, according to Madelaine Petsch, who plays her on the CW series.

It’s a reality fans have been wanting for some time — all the way back to the first season. But especially since bisexual Toni Topaz came to town.

Toni was first announced last summer. Then actor Vanessa Morgan confirmed Toni would be getting a female love interest.

The rumors and hopes surrounding Cherly only blossomed — ha, get it — from there.

In a Q&A video on her YouTube channel, Petsch addressed one fan’s question about Cheryl’s sexuality. The question and answer begins around the 5:28 mark.

What does Petsch think of her character?

‘She’s still figuring out what her sexuality is,’ she says in the video. But she doesn’t play it safe and stop there.

‘Cheryl is definitely interested in both women and men, so I would say she’s bisexual.’

Score!

An influx on bisexual characters

There are more openly and explicity bisexual characters on television than ever before.

Even more exciting, writers aren’t afraid to say the word bisexual either — as in the case of Rosa Diaz on Brooklyn 99.

The CW alone is doing a fantastic job. Beyond Riverdale, Jane the Virgin had a storyline about bisexuality earlier this season with Tyler Posey.

Their superhero shows — Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning — all have queer characters, plenty of them bisexual.

And nothing will ever be as iconic than when Crazy Ex-Girlfriend did a rad number called Gettin’ Bi.
