And the actor cast to play Rock Hudson in Ryan Murphy’s ‘Hollywood’ is…

You may not know the name Jake Picking yet, but you will soon. Ryan Murphy just cast the 28-year-old to play Rock Hudson in the Netflix limited series Hollywood, per Deadline.

Hudson, of course, is one of the best known screen idols of the 1950s and 1960s, thanks to such films as All That Heaven Allows, Giant, and Pillow Talk.

He kept his sexuality private, the public only learning he was gay after he revealed his HIV diagnosis in 1985, two months before he died from AIDS-related complications.

Picking is still an up-and-comer who has appeared in the films Goat, Blockers, Sicario: Day of the Soldado. You’ll also see him in next summer’s Tom Gun: Maverick.

Murphy calls the series a “love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown,” so you can expect other actors playing real-life stars from days of yore.

Details on the project are scarce, but the cast also boasts frequent Ryan Murphy collaborators Darren Criss, Jim Parsons, Dylan McDermott, and Joe Mantello — as well as Patti LuPone, Holland Taylor, Jeremy Pope, David Corenswet, Samara Weaving, Maude Apatow, and Laura Harrier.

Even better news? Production on the series is already underway.
