Former head of gay Republican group spotted cheering on Donald Trump at White House

Gregory T. Angelo, the former head of Log Cabin Republicans, was spotted cheering on the president by Washington Blade reporter Chris Johnson. Angelo led the group for LGBTQ Republicans from 2013 to 2018.

Angelo, who lobbied Congress in opposition to proposed legislation to secure full civil rights protections for LGBTQ people, is shown on C-SPAN standing on the White House lawn and beaming at the man who inspired insurrectionists to storm the Capitol building as Trump denied any responsibility.

While the organization declined to endorse Trump in 2016, in 2020 Angelo joined the administration as spokesperson for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Earlier this week, Angelo posted a photo of various awards he received at a White House ceremony to honor his six month appointment by the president.
