Pete & Chasten Buttigieg announce they’ve become parents

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, have become parents. The out Cabinet member made the announcement on Twitter to the delight of the internet.

The gender and age of the child or children have not been released yet.

“For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family,” Buttigieg posted. “We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon.”

The couple has been talking publicly about wanting to have kids since early 2020 when Pete told People, “The next chapter in our personal lives is going to be about kids.”

Even earlier in their relationship, well before they were married, they were already talking about wanting kids, according to Chasten’s memoir I Have Something to Tell You.
