Kiev gets world’s biggest rainbow to promote diversity

Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, will get the world’s biggest rainbow statue.

Just in time for Eurovision, the People’s Friendship Arch in Kiev’s Cross Park will be painted in the rainbow colors and named the Arch of Diversity.

Gennady Kurochka, who founded CFC Consulting Company, the PR company working with the European Song Contest in Kiev, shared the pictures on Facebook.

‘[I’m] proud that slowly (but how) the country is changing,’ he said.

‘Filled with new meaning, a new sense of belonging to a free people – free in thoughts, free in spirit!’

He said the installation, with a diameter of 60 meters, will be the world’s biggest man-made artificial rainbow.

More and more people are now posting pictures of the monument on Facebook, with mixed, but mainly positive, reactions.

Of course, people couldn’t help but point out that the statue of two men standing underneath a soon-to-be-rainbow arch looks a little gay, too.
