The UK’s Biggest Diversity Careers Event to Take Place in London in October

Around a hundred of the country’s most influential employers are taking a stand on diversity in the workplace by exhibiting at this year’s Diversity Careers Show – on Friday 21st October 2011 at the New Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.

The show, now in its third year, will be bigger and better than ever before, with investment banking giant Societe Generale as headline sponsor, supported by Google and the RAF. The show is organised by LGBT media and exhibition organisation Square Peg Media in partnership with the renowned gay, lesbian and bisexual charity, Stonewall.

Last year saw over 2,500 candidates – students, graduates and other jobseekers alike attend. Hundreds of delegates have already registered this year. The show primarily targets LGBT candidates but welcomes jobseekers from all backgrounds.

Exhibitors to date include American Express, Asda, Ernst and Young, the FSA, HSBC, London Fire Brigade, National Audit Office, Waitrose and London 2012 among other well known organisations.

Managing Director of Square Peg Media, Linda Riley comments:

“We’ve packed this year’s show full of great benefits for candidates and recruiters alike – creating a truly exceptional opportunity for jobseekers from a diverse range of backgrounds to seek employment and helping both candidates and recruiters make the most of diversity in the workplace.”

Deputy Chief Executive of Stonewall, Laura Doughty comments:

“Stonewall is pleased once again to be working in partnership with the show. We know that lesbian, gay and bisexual jobseekers want to know potential employers will support and develop them to achieve their full potential.”

NEW BENEFITS FOR ATTENDEES

We’ll be increasing the capacity of our exceedingly popular one-to-one CV workshops run by Google to help candidates get dedicated advice about their resumes from real-life recruiters.

We’ll also be implementing a student zone, especially for students and those about to graduate to help them get a foot in the door.

“We have developed our offering to help candidates maximise the opportunities. Our focus is delivering quality, good calibre. We’ve targeted candidates through innovative online and offline social networking activities, creating inroads with University Careers Services and building ambassadors on campus” – Uwern Jong, Head of Marketing at DCS and Managing Director of Boutique Marketing.
