SCISSOR SISTERS return with New Album and live dates

On June 15, Scissor Sisters will launch a North American tour at the Las Vegas House of Blues in support of their forthcoming album, Magic Hour. The outing will include a show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles (6/16) and conclude with a two-night stand at Terminal 5 in the band’s hometown of New York City on July 6 & 7. A ticket pre-sale will begin tomorrow, April 26, at 10 AM ET at http://www.scissorsisters.com/events. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 27, at 10 AM ET. See below for itinerary.

Set for May 29 U.S. release on Casablanca Records, Magic Hour is the follow-up to 2010’s Night Work, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums Chart and was hailed as “dirty fun” by The New York Times. Ranging from the first single, “Only The Horses,” a full-on hands-in-the-air rave-pop banger, to “Shady Love,” an exuberant rap-pop number featuring guest vocals by Harlem-based rapper/singer Azealia Banks, Magic Hour is supremely diverse. Recorded in New York and London, the album also finds Scissor Sisters teaming up with Calvin Harris, Stuart Price, Pharrell Williams, Diplo and Alex Rihda, the German electronic music producer and DJ behind BoysNoize. (See below for tracklisting.)

“It was a pretty collaborative effort,” says frontman Jake Shears. “It’s really different from Night Work. That was almost a concept album. This one is a bit more of a grab-bag of music – it’s closest to our first record in terms of variety, and that board-game aspect where you’re not quite sure where you’re going to land next.”

“Only The Horses,” which will be available at all digital retailers beginning May 15, was co-produced with Calvin Harris. The band’s relationship with Harris started when Shears was working with him on material for Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite album. “When we wrote ‘Horses,’ I immediately knew that he’d help knock it out of the park,” says Jake.
Scissor Sisters – comprising Jake Shears (vocals), Ana Matronic (vocals), Babydaddy (guitar/bass/keyboards), Del Marquis (guitar) and Randy Real (drums) – have sold over seven million albums worldwide and been called “the best pop group in the world” by Bono. Magic Hour is the band’s fourth album and follows Night Work, which contained the dancefloor smashes “Any Which Way” and “Fire With Fire,” Ta-Dah (2006) and the band’s self-titled debut album, which was the top-selling album of 2004 in the UK.
