Republican party consider ‘softening’ official stance on LGBTs

Senior figures within the Republican Party are said to be crafting an amendment to the party’s official stance on LGBT issues.

Members of the party’s platform committee are said to be ‘polishing’ a draft to be presented at the national convention in less than two weeks.

The current stance, established in 2012, calls gay marriage a ‘redefinition’ and ‘assault on the foundations of society.’

A member of the committee said: ‘Equality for all people,’ according to CBS News. ‘That would be a hard thing for Republicans not to vote for.’
