Kim Davis complains of ‘furious, fist-pounding, homosexual men’ in new book

Kim Davis’s 15 minutes of fame was up in 2015, when her refusal to offer same-sex marriage licenses made her a heroine for the religious right.  But that isn’t stopping the Kentucky clerk from trying to capitalize on the lawbreaking that landed her in jail.

In an attempt to monetize her lawbreaking, Davis has written a book in which the villains are—you guessed it— angry gays.

More specifically, “furious, fist-pounding, homosexual men.”

Davis’s new book is titled, “Under God’s Authority: The Kim Davis Story,” which sounds ready-made for a bad Lifetime movie. The book is an apparent effort to justify Davis’s decision to flout the law she was elected to uphold. Davis spent five days in jail for her refusal to grant same-sex marriage licenses.

Needless to say, even though Davis broke the law, she portrays herself as the victim, consistent with the religious right’s belief that it is under siege. Her book even has a foreword by Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, who tried to boost his presidential campaign by welcoming Davis when she was released from jail.

Of course, Davis could have written quite a potboiler. After all, she was pregnant by her third husband while still married to her first. But that’s not what her audience wants to read about when she can summon up the idea of gay hordes threatening civilization.

The book will also serve as campaign material. Davis is running for re-election again, but she faces a crop of Democrats who want to throw her out of office. Among them: David Ermold, one of the men to whom Davis refused a marriage license. Ermold is running to “restore professional leadership, fairness and responsibility.”

Wouldn’t that be a nice change?
